Psoriasis is usually defined as a kind of skin disorder, but actually it can affect the joints too which is called psoriasis arthritis. Psoriasis normally causes red, scaly patches to appear on your skin which can be really irritating. Wherever it appears, it usually takes on a scaly and silvery appearance as the affected skin builds up.
Skin cells normally go through a cycle of developing, maturing and shedding every month or so, but with psoriasis the new skin production becomes greatly increased.
